The Peepoo

I read about the Peepoo in the Times and found it VERY interesting. The Peepoo bag, designed by a Swedish architect and professor, is a disposable, biodegrable plastic bag used as a "toilet", buried, then used as fertilizer for their crops. The bag apparently has some sort of crystal lining that breaks down the "waste" and eliminates any harmful odor or pathogens from escaping. According to the NY Times article, 40% of the world's population do not have toilets and from this come disease and lack of clean drinking water. The founder of Peepoo plans on selling the bags for 2 to 3 cents each. Such a simple but seemingly genius idea!
