I was at my parent's house for the holiday weekend and discovered an amazing business (and good coffee)!! Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee was created as a way to generate income and help rebuild lives for Rwandan's that were affected by the genocide. The specialty coffee provides a fair living wage for rural Rwandan farmers. A percentage of the sale of each bag of coffee goes into a loan pool to provide micro-loans to women. And... they have started the "Sustainable Cycle" program which raises money to ship cargo bikes to Rwanda farmer's that can be used to transport coffee beans from field to wash station. They really cover all of the bases of a productive change initiative. Such an inspiration!!
