

Natural dyes can create amazing colors and not just browns and natural cotton as you may think. Bright orange, peach, vibrant purple, greys, browns and indigos are a few options. The photo above is a seed from the Achiote shrub...it creates a gorgeous orange. The bottom photo is naturally dyed yarn from a weaving cooperative around Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. More and more artisan cooperatives in Guatemala are learning eco-friendly techniques to better market themselves in the international market.
