Swim

In the spirit of variety... a fashion post. These 'Microluxe Bloomers' are amazing! I need them. J.Crew, please produce more (they are both currently sold out).

Energy in Common

Everyone has heard of Kiva.org...the amazing microfinance organization where you can choose a loan recipient to give micro loans to for their small business ventures. Its a great poverty fighting tool. Now along comes Energy in Common, another microfinance org whose loans go to fighting ENERGY poverty. So cool. The current entrepreneurs are accepting loans to install solar home systems and clean stoves. Makes sense...the more "light time" the more kids can study and men and women can work to provide for their families. Check it out!

I love love love alligators. Must stem from growing up going to the beach in SC where they roam free in abundance! This metallic leather gator clutch is calling my name.

I can't wait to visit Merci, the beautifully curated retail concept where 100% of its profits go to a children's charity in Madagascar. Perfect. (photos via Remodelista)

Pelada

I cannot wait to see this film. 'Pelada' meaning street-soccer in Brazil is a documentary film about the people that play soccer all over the world; from proper fields, to concrete basketball courts, to salt flats. I have never played soccer properly and even my attempt at kicking a ball around has been poor at best. What I love about this game is that it is played everywhere...it's truly a global passion. Created by two former American college soccer players, the two travel around the world from South America to Japan playing and documenting pick up games. I'm so inspired already by the photos and trailer!

Raw Color

I love the work of Dutch design group Raw Color. Their "100% Sap/100% Juice" and "Raw Color No.1,2, and 3" projects attempt to discover and capture vegetable's pure colors and use them for printing. The colors they can achieve are amazing. You can see the whole process here.

Haitian papier-mache

I love this papier-mache rooster made by artisans in Haiti. The artisans making these are currently working outside of their homes/workshops in tents since the earthquake. More orders mean more money to put towards a new workshop! Available online at Aid to Artisans.

Lovin' Alabama

There is definitely something very cool going on in Alabama. Billy Reid, Natalie Chanin from Alabama Chanin (which I love love), and the seemingly amazing architect/artist/curator/festival creator Butch Anthony. His log cabin (shown above) is a wonderfully eclectic but clean, white space. Lately I've really been drawn to a clean white palate for the home...it really shows off your goods! Read more about these creative folks here. (via NY Times)
